Recipe: Carnitas Taco
Ingredients:
- 1 lb pork shoulder, cut into chunks
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp chili powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup lime juice
Instructions:
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
- Add pork shoulder pieces and cook until browned on all sides.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until onions are translucent.
- Stir in ground cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in chicken broth, orange juice, and lime juice. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 2-3 hours until pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
- Remove pork from the skillet and shred using two forks.
- Serve carnitas on warmed tortillas with toppings like chopped cilantro, diced onions, salsa, avocado, and lime wedges.
